Polyphasic Sleep – Term 2/ Day 2

Summer is finished and I need a lot more free time to work on term papers, etc. Here is the latest update on a regimented polyphasic sleep. I will be using Everyman 3hour core + 3 naps. I have had success with this before and WILL succeed on this again.

Here it is, much like last fall term:

Core: 4:00-7:00  (3 hours)

Nap 1: 11:30 (20 mins)

Nap 2: 17:00 (20 mins)

Nap 3: 23:00 (20 mins)

And the video to compliment Term 2/ Day 2:

Cheers to a strong new term!

Polyphasic Sleep – Up to the 4th Day

So I didn’t fall off the face of the earth, I just disappeared into the WEEKEND.

Perhaps one of the most amusing sections involved a 11:30pm nap of 30minutes at a party! I managed to sneak off into a spare bedroom, laid my beer down, and caught some shut eye.

On a side note, Dymaxion is as intense as I imagined. My body really wants some core sleep between 3am-6am. I find myself accidentally oversleeping around 2-3 hours durning this time. It is as if my body wants to revert to the Everyman Schedule I did last fall (3 hour core with 3x 20minute naps).

I talk about all this on the latest vlog. Here it is:

All the best,

- Matt

Day 2 – Dymaxion Sleep Schedule (explained and info)

After the first video (and later in the night) I recored another video, talking about how tired I was and explaining my sleep schedule a little more. Here it is:

————————-

Right now it is about 3am, and I’ll be making another video probably after I awake from my 430am nap.

I think the most difficult time of day is between my 1130pm nap and my 430am nap! It is so quiet around the house and there is not much to do. I think I am going to be using this as creative time for drawing, etc.

All for now,

Polyphasic Sleep – The Dymaxion Schedule and new Video Log!

Okay, so September is coming on quickly and I am yet again influenced to start Polyphasic sleep.

Last winter I chose a form of the Everyman Cycle which I experimented with.
This time, I’m choosing the Dymaxion Cycle. This one is rather extreme, and I have been warned I will be near-zombie state for the first few days.

Anyway, all that said, I am also starting a new video log in effort to take some control over how I am progressing, as well as sharing it with the world.

I am a University student, set on a path to become an Architect. I am striving for more hours in a day to read/ write/ draw/ etc.

So here is the first video, more soon (including my schedule).

August Updates + Pre-September Preparations

September is coming, and FAST.

This summer has been interesting working at Canary Cycles again, but now I need to focus and get prepared for September. I have mostly been working on The 100 Cyclists Project lately, but also some portfolio stuff.

In order to prepare for September and work hard on my portfolio, I have re-started my Polyphasic Sleep pattern (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphasic). I will be working on the Everyman Sleep Schedule, it will look as follows:

Lastly, over the past few weeks I have been working on a seasonal and collapsible Greenhouse design, with a permanent raised bed. I will be showing the makings and process of this once I get photos together and sketches scanned.

Get prepared to Think Architecturally!

I’ll leave you with one of my latest architectural photos:

Polyphasic Sleep Day 7 & 8

All is going well. Day 7 worked perfectly, I’m even waking up 1 minute before my 20minute nap alarm goes off now!

Day 8

I got quite drunk last night, for the first time in my polyphasic sleep career and overslept a little last night. I simply skipped my first nap of the day.

My second nap worked flawlessly. Woke up seconds before my alarm went off, perfect!

Now I’m 15 minutes away from my core sleep and feel great. I have spent much of today writing a paper, and have been very effective.

More soon!

Polyphasic Sleep – Day 6

I feel as if death is upon me this morning.

I awoke, but not really. It seems that my eyes aren’t all that sleepy, but the rest of my body is trying to crash. I’ve hit the barrier, I’m extremely REM sleep deprived.

Hopefully over the next day or two I can make it over the wall and REM sleep will make it into my two daily 20minute naps.

A few hours after waking up:

I’m feeling much better now. I think I’m getting used to this.

I really think I’m almost over the hump.
With the 20 minute naps I wake up EXTREMELY productive, and I can work on school for more than 12 hours a day productively. Two days ago I even went 15 hours working on school work.

Your productivity gain is huge, and I can work until 3am without even feeling slightly tired.

Polyphasic Sleep – Day 4

Day 4:

Last night I had a bit of a headache, but that’s gone this morning.

I overslept 20 minutes this morning, but I have a feeling it was because it took a little extra time to fall asleep last night.

All is going pretty good this far, and I’m starting to realize that 19 hours of waking time in a day is a LOT!

Drafting Floor Plans, and Polyphasic Sleep.

Late night, working away.

I’m getting all of my vernacular architecture project together these days.

Drafting Floor Plans

Drafting Floor Plans

This evening I was drafting floor plans, scaling them down from random sizing with measurements to proper proportions.

Also, I’m 2 days into my polyphasic sleep schedule, which is working really, really well. Tonight I have a bit of a headache but it should be gone by the time I wake up in the morning!

More soon.
